How to Make a Vision Board

🎉It’s the end of the year soon, time to celebrate! Woohoo!

For many of us that means it’s resolution-making season too! Amidst the celebration and giving thanks for a good year, it’s time for us to look towards a new one!

If you are like me, on a path of growth, development, and looking for strategies to implement your vision, then a vision board is an extremely useful tool to consider!

What is a Vision Board?

A vision board is a visual representation of a person’s goals or aspirations. It typically looks something like this.

Why It Works

Vision boarding works because it bridges two worlds: your imagination and your reality. When you visualise your ideal future regularly, you’re training your brain to notice opportunities that align with it. Neuroscience shows that the brain doesn’t distinguish much between imagination and real experience, which is why athletes use visualisation as a key performance tool. You can too.

Research in sport psychology shows that athletes use visualisation to mentally rehearse movements and build confidence – studies have even found that imagining a skill activates similar brain regions as performing it (Guillot & Collet, 2008; Weinberg & Gould, 2019).

How to make a vision board?

A powerful vision board doesn’t just capture what you want, but why it matters.
Here’s how to make yours truly work:

  1. Reflect on your values: What truly matters to you?
  2. Visualise your desired future: What would your best life look like a year from now?
  3. Build your board/model: Use colours, symbols, or bricks to represent your goals.
  4. Commit to small actions: Every vision comes alive through daily choices.

You can use images from magazines, newspapers to get started. If you are creating a digital vision board, canva.com offers many templates to get you started too. There’s no prescribed manner or format.

3D Vision Board

Traditionally, people use magazines, images, and words to represent what they want to achieve. But what if you could build your vision literally?

That’s where a 3D Vision Board comes in. We use LEGO bricks with our clients and participants, but you can totally use other tactile materials, you bring your dreams to life in three dimensions. This process goes beyond words and visuals, it activates creativity, engages your emotions, and helps you see possibilities you didn’t even know existed.

A vision board isn’t just a craft project (although it’s so fun right?), it’s a declaration of intent.

When you give shape to your dreams, you give them a chance to take root.

So take a moment, grab some bricks, and ask yourself:
What do I want my future to look like, and what can I start building today?

You can totally do this on your own, but if you prefer a facilitated format, we have just launched our 3D Vision Board Workshop to offer a guided process!

If you haven’t follow us on our Instagram yet, here’s us: https://www.instagram.com/saltnpeppersg, do share with us your vision boards! Can’t wait to see your creations! 🫶
