Spring cleaning is a common practice in many cultures, often carried out at the end of a year or the beginning of a new one. In Singapore, spring cleaning signifies sweeping away bad luck and ushering in prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Japan, that term is known as &#8220;\u014cs\u014dji&#8221;, a tradition of thoroughly cleaning homes, schools, and workplaces in late December. Beyond just the act of cleaning and tidying up, it is very much a spiritual act of renewal and purification of oneself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3976\" height=\"2652\" src=\"https:\/\/saltnpepper.sg\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/pexels-__checan27__-ck-3033331-7000172.jpg\" alt=\"New Year\" class=\"wp-image-256\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As we throw away the old and make space for the new in the physical space, shouldn&#8217;t we do the same to our emotional\/mental selves?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Do the following sound familiar?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I need to be strong all the time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If I&#8217;m resting, that means I&#8217;m falling behind<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I should have figured this out by now<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If I slow down, I will lose my edge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recognise that these are just thoughts, with arbitrary timelines, comparisons with your peers, comments from your families. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">How about we try this year, to allow you to spring clean these old beliefs that no longer serves you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Choose to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rest without guilt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opt for progress that&#8217;s slower but steadier<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Being human, not just capable<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trust in your own timing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not everything needs an answer yet.
